D.Y.Patil College of Physiotherapy is running a well equipped Pediatric Physiotherapy department. Pediatric Physiotherapy is a specialized branch of Physiotherapy which helps children to achieve their optimal physical development.
Under this area, Physiotherapist assesses, treats the developmental and acquired -Non progressive and progressive disorders of movement that affect the neonate and growing child till adolescent. Cases like cerebral Palsy, erb’s palsy, muscular dystrophy, down’s syndrome, genetic disorders etc. are well handled. Also early interventions are provided in NICU to catch up the early neurological recovery.
Physiotherapist practices Neurodevelopment Therapy to optimize movement and function of a child. Children are benefitted with various therapeutic interventions like trunk facilitation, Gait training, Hand rehabilitation, Functional training and Variety of exercises via games and play. The ultimate aim is to improve physical and mental health of child and to make child functionally independent.
