D.Y.Patil College of Physiotherapy is running a well equipped Neuro Physiotherapy department. The key functioning is to focus on assessment and treatment of patients with movement disorders that have resulted from injury and disease to brain, spinal cord or extremities of the body.
Physiotherapy is provided at acute phase at Medical ICU as well as during rehabilitation phase. Cases like stroke, spinal cord injury, Cerebellar ataxia, Parkinson’s disease, Peripheral Nerve Injuries are well handled.
Physiotherapist uses various neurological approaches like Neurodevelopment Therapy, Motor Re-learning Program etc to improve movement and function of the patient. Patients are benefited with various therapeutic interventions like Trunk facilitation, Gait training, Hand rehabilitation, Postural correction, Functional re-education etc with an aim to improve their quality of life by maximizing the potentials.
